IFA 2010 – BERLIN. Sky Deutschland has announced a CI-Plus module for reception of Sky programming. The technology allows access to the programming without any additional set-top-boxes, cables or remote controls.
Marcello Maggioni, senior VP customer group of Sky Deutschland said in a statement: “Today, many new television sets with integrated digital reception have a CI Plus interface. Through this innovative technology, the outstanding television experience from Sky is becoming even more convenient. Whether through our PVR Sky+, or through this new CI Plus module, Sky is enhancing customer choice and making it even easier to access the world of Sky for interested customers.”
The CI-Plus module from Sky will fully support its range of exclusive HD channels, and is expected to be ready for delivery in time before Christmas. Delivery will be carried out in cooperation with select device manufacturers.
The official announcement by Sky Deutschland follows earlier reports that the pay-TV operator was to back to CI Plus standard.
