Romtelecom has secured the rights to the Romanian Liga 2 football league for the 2010-11 season.
ZF reports that the telco has agreed to pay around €400,000, of which around €200,000 will be for the broadcasting rights and over €150,000 to ensure transmission of the games themselves.
Transmissions will begin on Dolce Sport, the proprietary channel recently launched by Romtelecom, on August 28.
Dolce Sport is distributed by the Romtelecom DTH and IPTV platforms Dolce and Dolce Interactiv respectively, as well as NextGen, the telco’s cable subsidiary.
The rights to the premier Romanian football league (Liga 1) are currently held by RCS/RDS.
