Lithuania’s TEO LT plans to invest around LTL96 million (€27.8 million) in the deployment of its FTTH network, thereby enabling the internet services offered by the network to reach half of the population, or 570,000 households.
The total investment in the network, which has been expanded to 50 cities in Lithuania over the last three years, will at the end of this year amount to LTL255 million.
The FTTH network is being developed at its fastest in Lithuania’s largest cities and by the end of this year is services, which included internet access at up to 200 Mbps, will be available to 95% of residents to Klaipeda, 88% of those in Vilnius, 75% in Klaipeda and over 50% in both Panevezys and Siauliai.
According to data produced by the FTTH Council Europe in February, Lithuania is already implementing next generation fibre-optic internet technologies at a faster rate than any other country in Europe.
