UPC Nederland is to work with Tele2 to avoid customer confusion in the wake of the Open Cable ruling by the Dutch Trade and Industry Appeals Tribunal. Under the original market analysis ruling from the telecommunications regulator OPTA Tele2 was proposing an analogue cable service that would have run over the UPC network. It has emerged that in the region of 1,300 UPC customers had indicated their desire to switch to Tele2.
UPC has said that it will not impose any additional fees on the customers – doing so might cause them to switch to another operator outside the proposed Open Cable regime – with customers still permitted to terminate their contracts within a 30 day period.
