Spain’s leading cable operator ONO will add the new channel Nitro to its offer this coming Monday (August 23).
Nitro is produced by the Antena 3 group and targets a mostly male audience. It will start with 80% original content or acquired on an exclusive basis.
To this effect, Antena 3 has signed agreements with such companies as Warner, Fox and Universal, guaranteeing its viewers brand new shows such as 24 (seasons seven and eight), Southland and Rush.
Nitro will also have part of its schedule dedicated solely to movies. Known as Nitocine, it will be placed in primetime. ONO has nearly one million cable TV subscribers and its offer includes a VOD service featuring over 2,500 titles. The operator recently signed an agreement with TiVO for the deployment of a next generation service.
