Viasat Broadcasting has signed a new multi-year licensing agreement with NBC Universal International Television Distribution for the exclusive pay-TV rights in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland to current and upcoming feature films for the TV1000 premium channels.
Included in the package are It’s Complicated, starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin; Robin Hood, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Max von Sydow and William Hurt; The Wolfman, starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins and Green Zone, starring Matt Damon.
“The pay-TV agreement with NBC Universal is new for TV1000 and it further strengthens TV1000’s position as the leading premium movie channel brand in the Nordic region,” said Hans Skarplöth, CEO Viasat Sweden.
Seven thematically styled TV1000 channels are distributed in the Nordic region, TV1000, TV1000 Drama, TV1000 Action, TV1000 Nordic, TV1000 Classic, TV1000 Family and TV1000 HD.
TV1000 is also available as a catch-up service for its subscribers, both through the Viasat digital receiver, where it uses the NDS progressive download system, and online through Viasat OnDemand. The movies will also be available in the subscription video-on-demand service.
