Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB) has announced an agreement with Top Up TV enabling its new i-CAN Easy HD DVB-T2 set-top box to be used for terrestrial reception of the Sky Sports channels.
Top Up TV secured access to Sky Sports 1 & 2 as part of Ofcom’s Wholesale Must Offer (WMO) ruling. The terrestrial pay-TV platform already has access to ESPN and GOLD, as well as offering an on demand service based on content downloaded to receivers.
“The i-CAN HD set top box has already been highly acclaimed by trade press in the UK and the addition of Sky Sports 1&2 plus ESPN on this Freeview box will only add to its accolades,” said Roger Matthews, sales and marketing director at Top Up TV.”
The box, which goes on sale over the next few weeks, will be the first DVB-T2 boxes capable of receiving the premium sports channels and high definition content. It also carries the BBC iPlayer, including access to HD content for viewers outside of the initial HD coverage areas.
