A special terrestrial version of the Spanish premium channel Canal+ Dos will make its debut on digital terrestrial television on August 23. The first receivers have appeared in the shops this week.
Canal+ Dos is a stripped down version of the ‘proper’ Spanish Canal+ channel, which broadcasts a full mix of premium sports and movies, TV series and documentaries. Canal+ is available on DTH and cable, but not on terrestrial television. At the moment, the second Canal channel is a 24 hour time shifted version of the first. However, the terrestrial version will not broadcast any sports.
With new receivers in the shops now, people can buy a dedicated receiver. It is also possible to buy just a Canal+ Dos smart card, as the current receivers for the terrestrial premium service Gol TV are compatible with the new service.
Canal+ Dos replace the 40 Latino channel in the Mediapro premium bouquet. Subscription to the new channel costs €14.90 a month. The Mediapro DTT premium service currently offers two Gol TV channels and the Spanish version of Sony Entertainment’s AXN.
