The two DTH services operated by the Polish commercial broadcaster TVN enjoyed mixed fortunes in the second quarter. While the new generation service n gained an additional 6,000 to take its total to 730,000, the pre-pay Telewizja na karte (TNK) lost 28,000 “on the back of extraordinary events in free-to-air TV.
However, the year-on-year picture was much better for both operations: n’s active subscriber base rose by 175,000, while TNK’s active customer total was up by a factor of 2.1 to reach 279,000 and its overall customer base stood at an impressive 575,000.
Revenues for n rose by 38% year-on-year in Q2 to reach PLN151 million (€37.6 million), while EBITDA in the second quarter was, at PLN1 million, in the black for the first time.
