CNBC has hired its first digital director, bringing in Torsten de Riese, previously mobile business manager for The Guardian.
De Riese will report to Justine Powell, vice president distribution, EMEA, and Anthony Lilleyman, CFO and VP business development, EMEA.
“Torsten comes to CNBC with excellent experience across digital media, which will help us to expand our digital reach,” said Powell. “Increasing and syndicating our digital content is one of our key priorities and Torsten’s extensive experience will be invaluable.”
At The Guardian, de Riese introduced the award winning iPhone app, developing new revenue streams from new products including the Guardian and Observer Archive, the Arabic News Service and a commercial programme for Guardian’s Open Platform.
