The Czech Radio and TV Council (RRTV) are awarded a number of satellite licences to thematic channels, all of which are valid for a period of 12 years.
Parabola reports that they include one for Spike, a general entertainment channel operated by Viacom’s MTV Networks, which is allowed to transmit in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Israel, Ukraine, South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya.
Also on the list are MTV Polska and Comedy Central Family, specifically for Poland, and Nickelodeon. In the latter case, the licence is for several countries in both West and Central and Eastern Europe, along with Israel and a number of markets in Latin America.
