UPC Nederland has upgraded the electronic programme guide carried on its Mediabox receiver.
The new EPG, known internally as TV Guide 2.11, has been developed in house by UPC itself. It has been built to operate on the OpenTV middleware currently deployed across the UPC network.
Improvements have been made that increase the response time, as well as including more information in the guide. The transparent background now makes it possible to see the current programme in the background.
Mark Giesbers, VP marketing at UPC Netherlands, said the EPG was one of the most heavily used services provided by the cableco. “We are obviously continuing to work to improve the look and user experience of our customers,” he said.
UPC Nederland has already announced plans to introduce remote booking for PVR customers, both over the internet, and through mobile phones.
