Mediaset’s pay-as-you-go DTT package entered operational breakeven in the second quarter.
The total of 4.4 million active cards at the end of June 2010 compared favourably with the 3.7 million at the same point in 2009. Revenues from card sales, re-charges and Easy Pay subscriptions amounted to €229.7 million, an increase of 55% on the €148.3 million of the first half of 2009.
EBIT rose to €339 million, an increase of 20.8% on the second quarter. Net profit also increased by 23.3% to €155.3 million.
Mediaset’s satellite rival Sky is yet to report, but has struggled to add new subscribers in recent quarters.
