The Strong Group has licensed the Thomson brand for its range of high-end free-to-air set-top boxes sold in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The name has been licensed from Technicolor SA (the former Thomson SA), which dropped its own use of the brand after a recent company reorganisation.
“I am pleased that we will be able to further strengthen our position in the market, by leveraging the power of the Thomson brand to provide consumers the best technology and reliable products,” commented Strong CEO Khaled Debs.
Both Strong and Thomson have long histories, Strong was founded in Japan 140 years ago, while Thomson has been present for over 120 years.
