Subscriber growth at Spanish DTH platform Digital+ finally returned to the black in June after months of negative growth.
Majority owners Prisa said the positive trend would have been even better had their not been delays to the initial expectations for the wholesale distribution of the channel bouquet. Digital+ has recently reached an agreement with IPTV provider Jazztel to launch a triple play offer, while the local version of Canal+ is now available over the Telecable platform. The company says negotiations with other platforms are ongoing.
Nevertheless, in the period January to June 2010, Digital+ lost 60,962 subscribers, compared to 104,072 in the same period in 2009. As of June 30, 2010 subscriber numbers stood at 1,784,843, the tenth successive negative quarter.
