GlobeCast has announced the rebranding of its fibre network as the GlobeCast Backbone Network. It follows the expansion of the interconnection service to 32 points-of-presence (PoPs) including new hubs in Johannesburg and Sao Paulo.
Previously known under its French name Reseau Inter Business Unit (RIBU), the network is used by broadcasters including Sky, RAI, Al Jazeera, Fox, Disney, Discovery and France Televisions, spans five continents and stretches over 92,000 km. It is designed a cost-effective way for content to be moved quickly and securely around the world. Once content is at its destination, broadcasters have access to an existing community of partners and facilities.
Further (PoPs) are due to be announced in the next few weeks.
