Chase Carey has been appointed as the new chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sky Deutschland, the company announced. Carey is deputy chairman, president and chief operating officer of News Corporation.
He replaces Markus Tellenbach, who will take on the role of deputy chairman of the Supervisory Board with immediate effect.
In a statement, Chase Carey commented: “I am very pleased to accept the position of chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sky Deutschland. I believe that there is considerable potential to grow pay-TV in Germany and Austria and I am committed to the future success of the company. Sky Deutschland offers an outstanding entertainment service at great value and leads the market in many areas – nobody else shows more programs in true HD, nobody has a bigger offering in movies and sports, including all the Bundesliga, and nobody provides customers with as much high quality and exclusive TV content. This is a dynamic company that has achieved much over the last year and I am looking forward to working with the team in the months and years ahead to grow the business to deliver sustained profitability.”
The other members of the Supervisory Board are Dr. Stefan Jentzsch, Mark Kaner, Miriam Kraus, Thomas Mockridge, Guillaume de Posch, Steven Tomsic and Katrin Wehr-Seiter.
