Canal Digital has officially launched its web TV service in Norway and Sweden under the brand Canal Digital GO. The portal has been testing for a number of months and will later also be accessible directly from the Nordic paycaster’s satellite and cable TV platforms.
“We are in something of a cautious start-up phase, but eventually the film supply will increase,” explained Svein Erik Davidsen, CEO, Canal Digital.
The principal supplier of content to Canal Digital GO is Nordisk Film. Customers of either the Family, Canal+ or Entertain packages will be able access a number of films as part of their subscription. Around 50 such ‘bonus’ movies will be available. Refreshed on a regular basis.
It will also be possible to rent movies from the site from a selection of around 400 titles. They will be priced at NOK 45 (€5.70) and accessible for a 24-hour period. As an enticement to new customers, the first mobile will be available free-of-charge.
