The Romanian incumbent telco Romtelecom is becoming an increasingly important player in the country’s cable industry.
Quoted in ZF, its general manager Yorgos Ioannidis said that the company’s subsidiary NextGen had gained 60,000 subscribers from the acquisition of smaller networks in recent months and now has 160,000.
NextGen was established in 2008 and provides triple play services.
Romtelecom also operates the DTH platform Dolce, which is the second most popular in Romania after RCS/RDS-owned Digi TV in terms of subscriber numbers, and an IPTV service which it launched late last year.
