Nova, the ten-year old Greek satellite platform, is making the move into high definition. It is expected that transmissions from the Eutelsat Hot Bird neighbourhood (13 degrees East) will commence this August.
Two proprietary channels, Novacinema HD and Novasports HD, will form the centre of the package that also includes Eurosport HD. Novacinema has afreements with Hollywood majors Disney, Warner Bros, Columbia, Universal, Paramount, Fox and MGM in addition to HBO and Lionsgate. Novasports will screen at least one match per week from the Greek football Superleague, along with the Champions League, Europa League, NBA, basketball, volleyball and water polo.

The Nova HD zapper receiver, known as the Nova Box will be a version of the Pace DS830, while a HD PVR will be introduced a little later.
