The leading Polish DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat has produced its first HD receiver. According to Wirtualne Media, it is known as the HD 5000 and manufactured by Cyfrowy Polsat Technology in Warsaw.
Cyfrowy Polsat Technology was established in November 2007 and currently produces around 90,000 receivers a month, its one millionth having been made in Q1 this year. The HD 5000 is its fourth receiver model, the others being the Mini, Familijny and Familijny F300.
Cyfrowy Polsat makes savings of around 20-25% by producing receivers in-house. They accounted for around 67% of those it had deployed as of Q1 and the company expects to manufacture up to a million this year.
Of these, 60% could be the new HD 5000.
