Spacecom, the Amos satellite fleet operator, today announced that Q-Kon, the South Africa-based telecom service provider, has leased long term capacity on the Amos-5i satellite and on its successor, the Amos-5 satellite.
Q-Kon is using the Amos-5/5i platform for its specialist corporate network solutions to provide Africa to South Africa and Africa to Africa connectivity.
From its 17 degrees East orbital position, the Amos-5i satellite’s twenty-eight 36MHz equivalent C-band transponders deliver pan-African signals as well as connectivity to Europe and the Middle East, and nine 54MHz Ku-band
transponders distribute two Ku-band regional beams.
Q-Kon is leveraging the capabilities and reach of the Amos-5i satellite to meet the connectivity needs of a variety of corporate, health, financial, telecom and other data centric businesses.
