Romania’s RCS/RDS has decided to start charging RON5 (€1.18) a month for fixed line telephony services, which were previously offered free of charge to its cable TV and internet subscribers.
ZF points out that this is one of the most radical pricing steps taken by the company and will impact on over 1 million customers, netting RCS/RDS around RON8 million by the end of this year.
It is also likely to reflect the increasing financial pressures that RCS/RDS currently finds itself in in the face of growing competition from UPC and Romtelecom.
RCS/RDS is the largest cable company in Romania and also operates in leading DTH platform.
