Markus Tellenbach, the president of TVN, has dismissed out of hand rumours that the Polish broadcaster will be sold to News Corp.
In a wide- ranging interview in Rzeczpospolita, he also ruled out any sale of the DTH platform n, which he expects to end this year with around 870,000 subscribers and to reaching positive EBITDA next year.
While also ruling out any more thematic channel launches this year, Tellenbach said they were likely in 2011. In his view, there is room in the market for a high quality children’s channel.
Tellenbach added that TVN is committed to the digitisation process in Poland but has no plans to enter the IPTV sector.
He also believed that Poland is unlikely to see the launch of a 3D channel either this year or in 2011 and that the country’s pay-TV market in would reach saturation by 2012 or 2013.
