The financially troubled Romanian DTH platform Boom TV has been dealt a further blow. However, its owners still believe it can be saved from bankruptcy.
ZF reports that the incumbent telco has pulled out of an agreement with Boom TV for carriage of the proprietary channel Sport 1, in doing so losing the platform an additional source of income.
Speaking to ZF, Boom TVs owners DTH Television Group have said they are confident that talks initiated with creditors will have a successful outcome.
Boom TV is one of five DTH platforms operating in a market dominated by RCS/RDS’s Digi TV and Romtelecom’s Dolce, which between them have around 2 million subscribers. Its subscriber total is believed to have fallen from 200,000 to 130,000.
