Ukraine’s National Broadcasting Council has expanded the list of foreign TV channels that can be distributed by cable and DTH in the country. However, according to AKTA, it has also banned the adult channels Spice and Adult Channel.
Those added to a “White List’ of approved channels include the Russian services 365 Days, Evrokino and Psychology 21, along with SyFy Universal and Universal Channel.
Significantly, the council has denied that it has embarked on a “witch hunt” of adult channels. Instead, it says that it has not received the proper documentation from Spice and Adult Channel for their retransmission in Ukraine.
There are currently 117 channels on the approved “White List”.
