The Serbian government has received only one bid to advise on the privatisation of the incumbent telco Telekom Srbija.
Novosti reports that it has been submitted by a consortium led by the US’s Sitigrup global markets. Jasna Matic, the minister of telecommunications, has previously said that the work of a financial advisor should include determining how many shares should be sold, a timetable for a tender and exactly what belongs to the telco.
A decision on the consortium’s bid will be made within 15 days. Should it succeed, there will be a service charge of 0.2% of the value of shares sold. Earlier announcements have suggested that the tender will be held this summer or early autumn.
Deutsche Telekom has already emerged as a strong favourite to buy a stake of up to 40% in Telekom Srbija.
