Doubts have been raised as to the transparency of the recent sale of a 50% stake in the Bulgarian national transmission company NURTS.
Novinite reports that the Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC) and Competition Protection Commission (CPC) are unlikely to sufficiently probe behind who is behind the sale.
The Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC), which uses the brand name Vivacom, agreed last month to sell the stake to the 50% stake in NURTS to the financial investor Mancelord for an undisclosed fee.
Mancelord is represented in Bulgaria by Bromak, a leading shareholder in the Bulgarian Corporate Commercial Bank.
NURTS is currently believed to be bidding to operate what will be Bulgaria’s public service DTT multiplex, the two commercial ones having already been secured by Towercom and Hannu Pro.
