Three DOCSIS 3.0 hits from Hitron

April 30, 2010 07.52 Europe/London By Julian Clover

ANGA Cable 2010: Stand J68. DOCSIS 3.0 gateway specialists Hitron Technologies will launch three new products as operators continue to develop their next generation broadband strategy.

The CDE-30350 is an 8×4 DOCSIS 3.0 router with wireless capability. Based on the Texas Instruments chipset, Hitron says the CDE-30350 provides a more efficient handling of the data stream, enabling cable operators to offer speeds of over 120 Mbps, with a single modem capable of handling 400 Mbps.

For fibre rollouts, Hitron has developed its Gigabit Ethernet fibre router, the GVE-39320. Hitron says it has been able to take speeds beyond the 50 – 80 Mbps range and up to 956 Mbps, allowing simultaneous live streaming to multiple outlets within the home.

A new departure for Hitron is the DOCSIS-based Network Monitor, the DNP-39341. The probe, based on DVB specifications, enables operators to proactively manage the quality of service being delivered to customers’ homes, and to improve customer retention.
