KPN IPTV adds RTL HD channels

April 28, 2010 09.21 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Dutch IPTV provider KPN Interactieve TV has added four channels from RTL Nederland to its line-up of HD channels. With immediate effect, RTL4 HD, RTL5 HD, RTL7 HD and RTL8 HD are available to subscribers.

The total HD offer of KPN now consists of 14 channels. Until now, tHD bouquet consisted of the public channels Nederland 1 HD, Nederland 2 HD and Nederland 3 HD; the three channels from the SBS Group Net5 HD , SBS6 HD and Veronica HD, the Belgian public channels VRT Één and VRT Canvas/Ketnet; and the thematic channels Discovery HD and Animal Planet HD.

KPN said the HD channels are available to around 70% of the IPTV footprint of the operator. The current KPN set-top box is capable of receiving HD signals, so viewers only need to have a Full HD or HD Ready flat screen TV set.

In a related development, Belgian DTH platform said it will add public broadcaster’s VRT Ketnet HD and Canvas HD to its line-up from May 4th. This will also include all live sports on Sporza HD. Before the summer, the platform also hopes to add private broadcaster VTM HD.
