Canal Digital has elected to join the Kabel Norge trade association for Norwegian cablenets, finally uniting all of the country’s major operators. In total Kabel Norge now represents over 900,000 connected homes.
“With Canal Digital onboard, Kabel Norge will have an even better chance of securing political acceptance for the industry’s needs. Continued investment, which will benefit all cable TV customers, requires predictable, long-term, regulatory frameworks”, says Knut Børmer, head of Kabel Norge.
Kabel Norge’s main objective is to drive the further expansion of networks offering digital TV, broadband and telephony services based on HFC-technology (Hybrid Fibre Coax).
Svein Erik Davidsen, CEO, Canal Digital Norge said new technologies and solutions were enabling the company to meet new consumer demands. “At the same time, further infrastructure expansion and development requires large financial investments, which in turn requires that the industry operates under fair and stable regulatory frameworks. Kabel Norge is the most important association for the cable TV industry in Norway, and we are excited about becoming a member and actively support the industry as a whole”.
Kabel Norge is hoping to capitalise on the Norwegian government objective for all citizens to have access to broadband.
