Fox International Channels (FIC) Europe has announced that it has hired Åse Ytreland as the new MD for Nordic and Baltic regions. She will manage the company’s activities in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Mrs. Ytreland will be based in the FIC Nordic’s local offices in Copenhagen and Oslo and report directly to Jesús Perezagua, FIC Europe president. In her new post, she will assume the management of the all Nordic and Baltic markets with responsibilities in all key areas including distribution, programming, marketing and ad sales for the currently operating TV brands: the factual channels National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Wild and Baby TV – available in all countries, and the entertainment Fox Life and Fox Crime – distributed in Baltic countries.
Ase Ytreland, a Norwegian national, has a long trajectory in the television sector in setting up media related businesses in Europe. Over the last two years, she has been partly based in London as EMEA executive director affiliate sales of the American sports channels ESPN, part of Disney-ABC-ESPN Television Group.
Prior to this position, she was director of distribution, and part of the key management team that built up and rolled out the US Sports channel, NASN Television Limited (North American Sports Network), which was then acquired by ESPN.
