DTT services are being watched by 89.3% of Spanish households following an unprecedented 5.7 percentage point increase in the lead up to the completion of analogue switch off on April 2, according to new figures published by trade body Impulsa TDT. Some 1.2 million receivers were sold during February and it is estimated that a total of 31 million devices were in use by the end of March.
The public channels now cover 98.79% of the country with the commercial channels not far behind on 98.36%.
Those who have chosen not to go the DTT route have the option of cable (19.2%) or digital satellite (9.1%). Even analogue satellite still accounts for 3.5%. Between them multichannel services from cable, satellite and IPTV represent 28% of households.
