The number of digital TV subscribers in Hungary stood at 1.148 million in January, a modest increase of 7,000 on the previous month.
According to data published by the country’s National Communications Authority (NHH), digital TV subscribers accounted for 46.2% of the approximately 3 million homes receiving some kind of subscription service, up from 45.8% a month earlier.
There are around 3.8 million TV homes in Hungary, with 800,000 watching only FTA services.
In January, there were 404,000 digital cable and IPTV subscribers (up from 389,000 in December 2009), along with 744,000 DTH subscribers (down from 752,000). UPC’s market share of all services fell from 31.9% to 31.8% during the month, and Digi’s was also down, from 35% to 34.7%. However, Magyar Telekom’s rose from 21.5% to 22.2%.
