The incumbent Slovenian telco Telekom Slovenije ended 2009 with 109,471 IPTV subscribers in its home market, or 29% more than a year earlier. It also had 8,875 cable customers, or 58.3% more than at the end of 2008.
As of the end of 2009, the telco had 211,025 broadband connections, of which 187,455 were xDSL and 23,570 FTTx.
Significantly, despite strong competition Telekom Slovenije still claimed the highest share in the IPTV sector at year’s end (61.1%), its closest competitor being T2 (32.4%). Amis was in third place (5.7%) and Tusmobile fourth (0.7%).
Outside Slovenia, the telco ended 2009 with 43,000 digital cable subscribers and a 55% market share in Kosovo through the operator Ipko. In Macedonia, the mobile operator ONE AD had 11,000 digital TV subscribers to its boom-branded service one month after its launch in November 2009, while in Bosnia & Herzegovina Aneks had 13,000 cable customers at year’s end.
