One of the largest cable networks in the West of Sweden is to be run by Canal Digital after the Telia withdrew from the operation.
The Gothenburg-based GothNet FttH network has been running since the late 1980s. It is a subsidiary of the regional utility company Göteborg Energi and part of the Västgötaringen project that links together the respective metropolitan area networks into the regional ring.
The Canal Digital offer combines analogue and digital TV channels that can be accessed directly through the television outlet without the need for a set-top box. Additional pay packages include the offer of HDTV channels.
As a result of the switch a number of channels have had their positions reassigned.
