Canvas fills in senior roles

March 29, 2010 09.13 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Anthony Rose, one of the brains behind the BBC iPlayer, and Freeview marketing director Tim Hunt are to join Project Canvas.

Rose becomes chief technology officer, joining from the BBC where he is currently future media controller, Vision and Online Media Group. He joined the BBC from music download service Kazaa where he was chief technology officer.

Tim Hunt, the current director of marketing and communications for Freeview, was previously marketing director for the ill-fated Project Kangaroo. He was also launch marketing director at Sky Italia.

“It’s great to welcome two such experienced individuals to the project. They both bring key skills and expertise in their fields that allow us to begin the next phase of Project Canvas as we await the outcome of the regulatory process,” said Project Canvas director Richard Halton.

Both appointments have been made on an interim basis while the BBC’s involvement awaits the go-ahead from the BBC Trust.
