Belgian IPTV provider Belgacom TV will organise a 3D showcase in pubs around the country on May 8 with live coverage of the Jupiler Pro League match Anderlecht โ Sint Truiden.
On March 10, Belgacom recorded its first 3D event, the match Charleroi-Lokeren, with its partners Samsung and Outside Broadcast. The 3D recording was show to a specially invited audience on the morning of Friday, March 26, where Belgacom also unveiled its 3D plans.
The operator claims the first 3D recording was such a success, that it now wants to present the first live game to the general public to give them a chance to sample the new technology.
Belgacom TV counted 752,000 subscriber on December 31, 2009 and is available to about 87% of the Belgian population. It competes directly with cable Telenet (in Flanders), Numericable (Brussels) and VOO (Wallonia). Belgacom TV owns the premium rights to the Jupiler Pro League, the premier division of Belgian football.
