A dispute over the movie channel bTV Cinema could delay the finalisation of the sale of its operator bTV, the leading broadcaster in Bulgaria, to CME.
Pari reports that CableTel/Eurocom, Bulgaria’s largest cable operator, plans to report bTV to the Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) this week over the dispute. It has apparently been going on for several months, with CableTel/Eurocom wanting to raise its fees if it is to distribute bTV Cinema.
Last month CME agreed to buy News Corp’s assets in Bulgaria, which include bTV and bTV Cinema, for $400 million (€290.4 million) in cash.
