Ukraine’s leading cable operator Volia is to start providing TV services solely in the digital format in the western city of Lviv from March 1.
According to Kyiv Post, Volia’s subsidiary in the city – Lviv Telecommunications Systems Ltd – aims to have Lviv wholly digital by 2012.
The transition to digital is being undertaken on the basis of Volia’s experience in the capital, Kiev, where its network will be 100% digital from next month.
Volia began this year with 1.7 million subscribers, of who over 380,000 had high speed internet access.
