The last phase of the analogue switchover in Spain will begin on March 10 and end on April 3. By means of “an intensive media campaign in the coming days in coordination with Government and local councils”, the 30.2 million people affected will be informed of the end of analogue broadcasts.
Although digital penetration is estimated at around 80% across the whole country, it varies region by region. In mid-January, DTT penetration in Catalonia already stood at 91%. At the moment, potential digital reach is 90% of the population.
The transition process will take place across the whole country. The remaining analogue transmitters now broadcast a special overlay with the message that they will be switched off any moment.
All remaining analogue transmitters will be shut down by April 3.
