UPC Nederland has signed an agreement with Amsterdam football club Ajax to distribute Ajax TV, as well as launch an on-demand service on the network.
Ajax TV is the club’s own TV channel, providing news and updates about the club and its players with magazine programmes, behind the scenes looks and interviews. There are no live reports on the club’s matches, these being provided by the Eredivisie Live channel.
Apart from the dedicated club channel, individual programmes are available on an on-demand basis up to seven days after the initial broadcast. The channel and most of the on-demand pogrammes are available at no additional cost, with the exception of a few on-demand programmes, which are offered on a transactional basis. Ajax TV is also available online as a web TV portal.
Earlier this year, UPC also launched Rabo TV, an on-demand service from the Rabobank. Short form programming available from the service, which is financed by the Rabobank, includes reports from the sports that the bank sponsors (hockey and cycling) as well as instructional videos about bank related matters.
