Content distribution platform for the Caribbean

February 19, 2010 10.04 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Manycast Consultancy and Telefonia Bonairiano, aka Telbo N.V., have formed a strategic partnership to offer an International content distribution platform that will deliver digital TV content such as linear digital TV channels, VOD and ppv services to telecom, media and hospitality companies in the Caribbean and South and Central America.

“Many operators in the region are thinking of deploying digital TV (IPTV, DTV, DVB-T etc.) but costs of building head ends and dish farms is a large investment and is very time consuming to build and to maintain. It is a lot easier and more cost efficient for operators to abstract content from our International Content Distribution Platform at a fixed price per service per month,” said Jorris Uding, MD of Manycast Consultancy in a statement.

The platform is currently fully operational on Bonaire on the first IPTV deployment in the Caribbean. “By using our full service digital headend, our expertise and our investments in optical submarine cables and our other international transport partners, we will be able to deliver content almost anywhere in the region. This will most certainly help others to rollout triple play services in a time span even shorter than ours”, said Gilbert de Bree, general manager of Telefonia Bonairiano.
