IPTV service Swisscom TV closed 2009 on 230,118 subscribers, an increase of 94.9% over the 12-month period. The former Bluewin had passed the 200,000 mark in November.

And more and more customers appreciate being able to use the same services from mobile devices, anytime and anywhere,” said Christian Petit, head of residential customers, Swisscom Switzerland. “It is up to us to guide customers through this digital world and to help them feel at ease. The digital world also includes our three growth areas: mobile Internet, digital advertising and digital TV”.
The IPTV service closed the year with a 17% market share of the television sector, ahead of terrestrial TV (11%), but behind the penetration of satellite TV (27%) and cable TV (45%).
