LiveStation says it has made it possible to watch live TV news on the iPhone straight in the browser with no app required.
“We have always had a passion for live streaming and for iPhones and with this spirit I am glad to inform you that as of today a selection of our partner channels is available to watch live on iPhones/iPod Touches and soon iPads worldwide by simply opening the default browsers on the device and pointing it to http://mobile.livestation.com,” according to CEO Matteo Berlucchi.
LiveStation is now offering a basic selection of channels as the service is in beta. The plan is to add more free-to-air channels in the coming weeks and to also add support for the premium channels on a login basis.
LiveStation also said its audience almost doubled last quarter. During 2009 LiveStation delivered over 500,000,000 minutes of live news to their viewers in 45,000,000 video views (11 minutes each view). January 2010 alone saw 5 million video views with an average of 13 minutes each per session.
