French IPTV operator Orange has introduced a new Livebox with more capabilities to act as a media centre in the home. At the same time, it is adding a number of new thematic and ethnic channels to its IPTV offer.
The new Livebox now has an integrated DVB-T tuner to access the free-to-air digital terrestrial channels. It is also capable of receiving HD channels, as well as stream HD from VOD services. Also included is a ‘pause live TV’ functionality and can act as a fully fledged media centre in the home, so people can also access locally stored content including photos, music and videos. There is in addition a hard drive version available with 160 GB.
The Senegal channel 2STV has been added to the African bouquet, which now offers a total of seven channels. The free-to air channel Direct8 is now also available in HD. The sports bouquet includes Ma Chaîne Sport, Ma Chaîne Sport Extrême and three Ligue 2 football channels and the music bouquet has the iConcerts channel.
