Welho, Finland’s largest cable operator, grew both broadband and pay-TV subscriptions in the fourth quarter.
The increase is due in part to the launch of Welho Mix, which repackaged Welho’s premium channel offer. More recently parent company Sanoma Entertainment has launched Nelonen Sport Pro in partnership with Viasat, described as Finland’s “most diversified sports channel”, and including ice hockey from Russia and Sweden, the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and MotoGP.
Sanoma’s total number of pay-TV subscriptions grew by 8,000 to 76,000; the number of broadband subscriptions reached 116,000 from 105,000 in 2008.
