The Comstar-UTS subsidiary Moscow City Telephone Network (MGTS) now has 250,000 residential broadband subscribers, having added 41,000 since the end of Q3 2009.
MGTS, which is 69.93% owned by Comstar-UTS, began offering broadband internet access in the Russian capital in October 2007.
Separately, Cableman reports that a social network offering internet access and a limited number of TV channels will cost around R2 billion (€46.9 million) to construct.
The latter is being undertaken by a St Petersburg company named Teleks and it is believed the network could serve up to 3 million homes in Moscow.
