At the end of 2009, 14.67 million of Germany’s 35.49 million TV households were digital, according to Arbeitsgemeinschaft Fernsehforschung (AGF). The represented 41.4% of all TV households.
The figure was 600,000, or 1.5%, up on that three months earlier, while compared with the end of 2008, the number of digital homes rose from 12.07 million households (34.2%) by about 2.5 million households. At the end of 2008, the total number of TV homes in the country stood at 35.3 million.
The number of digital homes include cable, digital terrestrial, digital DTH and IPTV. Although IPTV still represents a very small number of homes, Deutsche Telekom had 1 million T-Entertain homes as of December 31, 2009.
