The Polish national commercial broadcaster TVN has made – and subsequently withdrawn – a bid for a controlling stake in its smaller rival TV Puls.
The news was given to Reuters by TVN’s Karol Smolag, who added that no talks between the two parties are currently taking place.
TV Puls was until late 2008 backed by News Corp but is now majority (75%) owned by Dariusz Dabski. It has recently been linked with a number of potential investors, amongst them CME.
TVN’s interests include a national TV station of the same name, several branded thematic channels and the DTH platforms n and TNK.
